The public will have their say as consultation begins on plans to build an adventure center at Blackpool Golf Course


The company behind the plans Blackpool UKAP (Blackpool) Holdings Limited, part of Holmes Investment Properties, has launched a public consultation.

He wants to build a 70,000 square foot active family entertainment center with indoor and outdoor adventure activities, as well as 150 vacation lodges and open public green spaces.

The new Family Active Entertainment Center will be an indoor and outdoor multi-activity center for people of all ages and abilities. Health will be a central theme of the activity center.

Activities will include zipline adventures, “cardio” climbing walls, gentle play areas for children under five, an internal mini-golf course, several trampolines, indoor wire rides, hang-gliders on the water. rails, a ninja assault course, electric karting, outdoor net adventure, outdoor golf adventure, a mega slide, caving experiences and a virtual reality suite.

Proposals for the west site will also form part of the initial planning request and will include modifications to the golf course, installation of training facilities and general pavilion planning. Another request will be made for the detailed planning permit for the clubhouse.

The company said the golf course will be upgraded from 18 to 9 holes with the key principles of expanding participation, improving facilities for members, with the aim of making it financially viable and ensuring that everything change is sensitive to local residential amenity, heritage and conservation.

A consultation website www.ukapblackpoolconsultation.co.uk has been set up for people to view plans and leave comments.

Consulting events were held for Wednesday, January 12, 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Thursday, January 13, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Village Hotel, East Park Drive.

There will also be a consultation pop-up event in the city center in January.

“The public consultation marks a key stage for the project and I would like to encourage as many people as possible to get involved in the consultation prior to the application before submitting a development application in spring 2022.”

The plans have drawn criticism from many townspeople over the loss of nine holes from the golf course and open green spaces, as well as fears over noise and traffic near the hospital.
