PIERRE, SD – The South Dakota Department of Hunting, Fishing, and Parks (GFP) has launched a new e-commerce system, Go outside in South Dakota.

This system combines hunting and fishing license purchases with state park camping reservations and other purchases. The new system makes it easier and easier for the public to log in, view their preference points, purchase hunting and fishing licenses, reserve parks and manage their profile information.

How do I log into the new system?

Go to and start by logging in or creating a mySD account. New to the system is integration with statewide single sign-on to provide additional account security and connection between other state agency systems. If you already have a mySD account, please use the registered email address. If you need to create a new mySD account, you will be prompted to do so after entering your unique email address. Each family member will need a unique email address for their mySD account to continue. After verifying your customer information, you will be redirected to the customer home page where you can manage your profile information.

Will I still be able to purchase from a licensing agent?

Yes. Most licensing agencies will continue to sell GFP licenses. Although the system launched on December 15, 2021, it would be a good idea to call ahead before visiting a license agent to make sure they’re ready to sell you a license.

Have my preference points been transferred?

Yes! All the preference points in your customer account will remain valid with the new system. Preference points purchased for the 2022 season are already included in the point values ​​displayed on your account available now. For example, you purchased a Preference Point for Gavins Point Paddlefish on December 10, 2021, when you had none before. Now you will have one displayed for 2022. What is automatic renewal?

Once you’ve made a purchase through the new system, you may be asked to sign up for auto-renewal. This is a feature that allows you to automatically renew all applicable licenses / permits when they are about to expire using a registered payment method. If you choose to register, you will receive an email 10 days in advance notifying you that your eligible licenses will be renewed using automatic renewal. You can adjust your auto-renewal settings (including registered payment) at any time before your license (s) expire through your customer profile.

Licenses eligible for automatic renewal include resident licenses for small game, annual fishing, wetsuits and furbearing animals. The habitat stamp will be automatically added to your basket and will automatically renew with your other licenses that you have selected. Annual non-resident fishing, hunting and predator / verminator licenses are also eligible for automatic renewal.

Did my automatic renewal work?

The automatic renewal of customer licenses was issued on January 3, 2022 of this year. Customers with a valid payment option on file, who met the customer’s criteria to automatically renew their licenses, received a purchase confirmation email to the email address listed on their customer account. Log into your account to confirm that your current and 2022 licenses are registered. The system is up to date on all transactions. If you don’t see the licenses that you expected to auto-renew, please purchase accordingly.

What is a South Dakota Durable Collector’s Card?

When purchasing a license and / or permit through the system, you may be asked if you want to upgrade to a durable card for $ 5. This optional and durable card is a valid form of proof of purchase that will not be damaged by water, sun, dirt or normal wear and tear like the traditional paper document. The card is made of a credit card-like material that has your client and license information on one side, and on the other side are artwork by Terry Redlin, the most popular outdoor artist. popular in America and originally from South Dakota.

Cards are mailed within 5-10 business days of purchase to the customer’s mailing address on file. At the time of printing, the qualifying licenses currently held by the customer will be printed on the card. Hunters are still required to wear physical tags for big game in addition to the collector’s card. Current permits that will be printed on the map include: Habitat Stamp, Annual Fishing, Annual Small Game, Combination Animal, Furbearing Animal, Predator / Vermin, and Migratory Bird.

There are two artwork options available for printing on your collector card at this time. You can order one of each model, if you wish, at the time of purchase. GFP intends to bring new artwork to the Trading Cards every year, so start with the first one!

Will my mobile app still work?

As part of the system transition, new versions of mobile applications are available for download. If you have the previous mobile app, please update the app through the App Store. If you haven’t downloaded the app yet, search for “Go Outdoors South Dakota” to find the official GFP mobile app for iOS and Android. Note: Users will not be automatically updated to the latest version of the app. To access the latest version of the app, each user must manually update / download the Go Outdoors SD app.

The app will allow you to purchase licenses and access your license information, wherever you are. You can download multiple client licenses to provide a secure digital license document location for families, groups, etc. It will also be a legal way to transport your licenses in the field. In addition to storing documents for multiple customers, you can sign up for season reminders and access regulatory documentation.

How do I check my upcoming park reservations and make a new reservation?

GFP consolidated the camping reservation system into the new e-commerce system! You can now log into with your mySD account to access your upcoming reservations. You can also purchase park entry licenses and / or make a camping reservation at any state park in our great state.
