BIRMINGHAM, Alabama. – Racing past a crowd that totaled 38,843 fans on a sunny Saturday at the Penn Relays Carnival, Arkansas’ 4 x 1500 relay produced a historic moment that won’t soon be forgotten by anyone who saw the Razorbacks meet with North Carolina State.
Arkansas took the win in 16:53.87 with a lineup of Isabel Van Camp (4:16.8), Logan Jolly (4:13.9), Lauren Gregory (4:12.5) and Krissy Gear (4:10.7), and earned a share of the SEC Women’s Runner of the Week honor along with LSU Favor Ofili sprinter.
The Razorbacks and NC State (16:55.19) bettered the previous college and game record of 17:08.34 set in 2009 by Tennessee. Arkansas also ranks No. 2 on the all-time US list and No. 3 on the all-time world list.
Behind Razorback’s outstanding performance, NC State produced the highest mark for the runner-up spot while becoming No. 2 on the all-time college list, No. 4 on the all-time world list.
Ole Miss (17:24.46) and Indiana (17:25.00) finished third and fourth, while teams placing fifth through eighth, which included BYU (17:29.45), Georgetown (17:32.97), Wisconsin (17:34.43), and Tennessee (17:39.48), also earned top marks for the spot in the event.
