NEW: Summer 2022 youth cross-country running camp

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The Corpus Christi Department of Parks and Recreation is accepting registrations for its new Summer 2022 youth cross-country running camp for boys and girls from 10 to 17 years old.

Gabe Lucido, a USATF-certified trainer with VFit, and JJ Garza of the South Texas Roller Running Club will train for this camp. The regimen will incorporate tools and practices for novices and for experienced athletes looking to improve their overall running performance. Training will focus on techniques, preparation, injury prevention, goal setting, motivation, sports psychology, strategy, and more.

Runners will explore the trails of the Corpus Christi Parks system. Workouts will be experience based and age appropriate and will provide short and long distance training to improve fitness, speed and endurance while having fun. Runners are encouraged to bring a towel for floor exercises and a bottle of water to stay hydrated daily.

The six-week camp will be offered from June 16 to July 23 as follows:

  • Thursdays from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Salinas Park
  • Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at West Guth Park
