“More than just a running”: the Bedford Run Festival returns with music, food and comedy

The Bedford Run Festival has announced that it will return in September with a full festival weekend, proving once again that the event is more than just a running race.

In addition to the opportunity to compete in 5k, 10k and half marathon timed races on the weekend of September 3-5, organizers have been working hard behind the scenes to deliver an exciting new festival program to Bedford this summer.

The weekend lineup will include Bedford’s popular Taste Bedford, as well as an outdoor cinema, stand-up comedy with actress Sara Pascoe, live music, a street food market, yoga classes and more.

Live music, comedy, food and entertainment are all part of this year’s Bedford Run Fest

Russell Park in the heart of the city is the new home of Bedford Running Festival, making it even more accessible to runners and non-runners.

Event Director Mark Draper encourages Bedfordians to bring as many friends and family as possible to join in the fun and celebrate all that is good about Bedford.

“The past 15 months of this pandemic have been incredibly hard for everyone, but now we are immensely proud to be able to deliver a safe but fun event that everyone, including people who aren’t running, can expect. and enjoy later. summer, ”said Mark.

“While the event is all about running, this year more than ever we have done our best to create an event that everyone can enjoy.

“It would be just great to see people come together safely, have fun and have fun.”

Mark and his team have already confirmed collaborations with Taste Bedford, Comedy Cow and Sundown Cinemas and he promises there will be even more announcements soon.

“We are excited to be working with Bedford RunFest and other local organizers to collaborate on an event that truly showcases the best of our region,” said Anne Harnan, co-founder of Taste Bedford.

Since 2017, Taste Bedford has championed local producers, cooks and chefs and has provided a platform for manufacturers to meet their customers.

“Over the past year, there has been a huge surge in buying food more locally and supporting independent businesses, so we can’t wait to be back for 2021,” Anne said.

“Our brand new kitchen trailer will host live cooking demonstrations throughout the weekend with chefs on hand to answer your questions and the Farmers’ Market returns with a wide range of fantastic products ranging from bread and canned goods to flowers, syrups and cheeses. “

Anne would love to hear from any local producers who would like a pitch at the festival, so if you’re interested, please email her at [email protected]
