Lions Water Adventure reopens in Kinston

KINSTON, NC (WITN) – The Kinston Lions Aquatic Adventure reopened for the summer on Saturday.

Park officials say the park is not yet operating at full capacity, but they no longer need masks according to the CDC update.

“Because we are an outdoor area, we were able to remove our mask mandate when you enter the park,” said Erica Copley, director of large-scale operations.

Although most businesses were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic last year, Copley said the business was able to hang on.

“I mean we were definitely lower than we were in years gone by, but we were still busy,” Copley said. “I think in part because we were outside and we were in swimming pools.”

Copley said the water park doubled its revenue from last year on Saturday, when it opened.

For the Fernandes family, they walked at least an hour to come to the park and buy season passes.

“It takes us about an hour and a half to get here, but honestly on the weekends we come here every day,” said Kevin Fernandes.

Season passes also provide access to other amenities at Kinston ‘K’ Community Center. Water park tickets and season passes can be purchased online at Lions Water Adventure website.
