CONCORD, North Carolina – Venturini Motorsports (VMS) today announced the signing of 16-year-old Landon Pembelton. The driver who made headlines in 2021 after winning the country’s first Late Model race at Martinsville Speedway, will compete in four ARCA Menards races under the team’s Toyota Racing Development banner in 2022.

The Amelia County, Va. Native will drive the VMS Toyota Camry in the ARCA Menards Series at Elko Speedway, Milwaukee Mile and Toledo Speedway, as well as the ARCA Menards Series West Fall Race at Phoenix Raceway.

“I am grateful for the opportunity with Venturini Motorsports and I will make the most of this time. I am being given to learn as much as I can,” said Pembelton. “Toyota and Venturini Motorsports are both established winners of the ARCA, and I am delighted to take on the challenge.

I am ready to rely on their leadership and knowledge to give me the best chance for success. I have high expectations for myself. With the right gear under me and knowing what I’m capable of, there’s no reason we can’t start in the top five.

With some karting experience under his belt, but relatively unknown within the racing community, the young driver’s interest in organized racing began in 2019. During his first year in the Limited Sportsman division at South Boston Speedway, he ran eight races, capturing six best -five finishes. The following year, he won the Virginia Racers Challenge Series championship, a collaboration between Dominion Raceway and Langley Speedway.

In November 2020, Landon entered a non-winning race for the late model division at Dominion Speedway. He managed to capture the checkered flag on his first attempt at driving a recent stock car model. Barely two and a half years in the sport, he took to the checkered flag in a NASCAR-sanctioned points race at South Boston Speedway on August 7, 2021.

Now in high school, Pembelton was named Virginia State Division I and South East Division I Rookie of the Year in 2021 and also placed 10th in the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series National Division I rankings.
