Seats two and four are up for election for the Lehigh Acres Municipal Service Improvement District.

All independent special district offices are nonpartisan and only appear on the November 8 general election ballot.

The Lehigh Acres Municipal Services Improvement District was created by the Florida Legislature in 2015 to preserve and maintain natural and community resources. The powers of LAMSID are drainage and flood control, conservation/mitigation, navigation, roads/bridges, parks and community signage.

The Board of Commissioners meets once a month and is made up of five seats, two of which are elected. Commissioners serve four years.

Dedicated to keeping valuations low while working on partnerships and innovative projects to achieve common goals at lower cost to taxpayers. Environmental and resource protection; oversee district operations and keep ratings low.

As a resident of Lehigh Acres for 43 years and with previous experience in the running office, I believe I can represent Lehigh Acres in a positive and proactive manner, putting Lehigh Acres at the forefront of discussions with our local leaders. and state.

Why are you running?

Throughout my tenure on the Lehigh Acres Municipal Service District Board of Directors, our district has enjoyed great success, and always with the taxpayer in mind. We have extended our ecological preservations, ensuring that we have adequate stormwater retention, while preserving the natural beauty of our surroundings for all to enjoy. We’ve partnered with county and state agencies to complete parks, water projects, as well as major highway projects such as the widening of State Highway 82. I’m running to continue serving residents of Lehigh Acres. This is our community, and we must meet the needs of our community today and for the future. My experience will help to continue to guide the district in this direction.

Planks of your platform:

intergovernmental partnership; protect our environment and a voice for the people of Lehigh Acres.

The three main problems:

Continue to partner with local and state agencies to better serve the residents of Lehigh Acres; continue to protect the natural beauty of Lehigh Ecological Reserves, while ensuring proper stormwater retention, and be a voice for empowerment to control the destiny of our community, directly in the hands of the people of Lehigh Acres.

Candidate Name: Tim Cooley

Seat Wanted/District or General: Lehigh Acres Municipal Service Improvement District, Commission 4 Headquarters

Time spent in the district in which you race/years of residence: 15

Age:

Training / qualifications :

Profession and place of work: East County Water Control District Senior Heavy Equipment Operator

Why are you running:

I’m running because I’ve been a LAMSID employee for over 14 years. During my employment there, I gained intimate knowledge of LAMSID’s day-to-day operations. This translates to having more experience than any board member past or present, and an understanding of how taxpayers’ money has been wasted and how best to serve. Lehigh ratepayers. While working for LAMSID, I was able to save taxpayers $2.5 million over a 10 year period due to the insights I provided. Unfortunately, these savings were not passed on to the taxpayer. The savings were instead used to provide raises to the management team and the purchase of failing equipment that provided no additional service to ratepayers. Last year alone, some managers received three raises.

Planks of your platform:

I hope to work with the current and future Board of Directors to make LAMSID more productive for the people of Lehigh Acres. I also plan to opt out of LMSID-provided health insurance for all board members, which would save taxpayers about $15,000.

The three main problems:

Fix LAMSID’s gross mismanagement, provide better service to taxpayers, and reduce taxes.

Why are you running?

I’m running to finally put Lehigh on the right path to becoming a city. Lehigh has potential and I know I can help with this whole process. I’m tired of our elected officials doing nothing.

Planks of your platform:

Lehigh Acres needs resources and dedicated public servants to put residents’ concerns first. We are nothing without our residents, and issues like road damage, street lighting and economic development are more prevalent than ever. Overspending hurts us all. We need to focus on preparing Lehigh to be a prosperous city in the future. Lehigh is a great community and work needs to be done to make Lehigh a safer community for adults and children.

The three main problems:

I run to fix our roads, preserve our water quality, and spur economic development in Lehigh Acres, so we can create more jobs at home.
