PRESQUE ISLE, ME (WAGM) – With the business of day-to-day living, it can be hard to find a piece and even harder to make the time to exercise. But some women in the area are trying to combat this with their weekly Trail Night.
“Ladies Trail Night is a great opportunity for women of all ages to explore the beautiful countryside we have,” said one of the group’s organizers, Jill Boyd.
It takes place every Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. and is sponsored by the Presque Isle Department of Parks and Recreation.
“It’s a chance once a week to just go out and check out the local trails,” said fellow organizer Jamie Guerrette. “It’s a great chance for people who might be new to the area. We have a lot of people who moved here during COVID which was a really tough time to meet people. “
There are beginner, intermediate and advanced groups. So even if you’ve never hiked before, you can give it a try.
“It can be intimidating to try a trail on your own; So trying it out with people was a great opportunity through the competition to see what’s out there, ”said Guerrette.
And, this year, they tried trails all over the county like Mantle Lake, Mary’s Mile, and State Park. Both ladies agree that the group is excellent for physical and mental health.
“It’s just the quiet,” Boyd said. “It’s wonderful to take this hour and have peace, relaxation and, at the same time, to exercise your body.”
