Find your next trail adventure with State Day Hikes guides from Waterford Press

Outdoor adventures are closer than you think, but you might need a little help finding them. Waterford Press, in partnership with American Trails, has launched a series of day hikes designed to introduce you to family-friendly, wheelchair-accessible hikes in your state.

Working with experts from American Trails, Waterford Press has listed 20 beginner-level trails in each fold-out pocket guide, all within a few hours drive of major cities and communities. The first four guides, now available for $7.95 each, highlight hikes in Washington, Idaho, Oregon and North Carolina. The next set of guides – Colorado, Maine, New Hampshire and Texas – will be available this fall. Over the next few years, all states will be featured.

The guides are printed on laminated paper and feature maps and illustrations on six panels, front and back. They are lightweight and fit easily into a backpack. Each features easily accessible trails in parks and wilderness areas with little elevation gain, referenced as grade percentages.

In 2020, 52 million people hiked across the country. These guides are perfect for Cub families, Scouts looking for a fun place to hike, or anyone looking for the perfect day trip location. They help you enjoy the outdoors the way you want.

They will complement your Scout’s 10 outdoor essentials, as a map and compass are some of the items Scouts should bring on outings to prepare.

You can find State Day Hikes guides anywhere books are sold, including the Waterford Press site, where you can also find pocket fold guides with over 900 printed titles, including astronomy, birding , edible wild plants, wilderness survival and more. .

Waterford Press is the world’s largest publisher of pocket guides and is dedicated to preserving and protecting natural resources. A portion of sales from each State Day Hikes guide will go to the American Trails Trail Fund, which is used to maintain the trails.
