Democratic Race for Brazos County Pct. 4 Commissioner Too Close To Call

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) -The second round between Democratic Brazos County Pct. 4 Commissioner candidates Prentiss Madison and Wanda Watson are too close to be called as one vote separates the two.

Currently Madison has 558 votes and Watson has 557 votes. Election officials say they are still waiting for the mail-in ballots to arrive, which will be the deciders in this race. These results should be known by next Tuesday.

Four Democrats faced off in a close race for Precinct 4 Commissioner, but none of the candidates emerged with more than 50%+1 of the vote needed to win the primary. Watson and Madison emerged as the top two candidates and collectively held 60% of the primary vote by defeating challengers Roy Flores and Ann Boney.

The winner of the run-off will face Republican Timothy Delasandro in November’s general election.

In the race for Brazos County Commissioner, candidate Chuck Konderla defeated incumbent Russ Ford with 53% of the vote. Konderla received 2,130 votes while Ford received 1,923 votes. No Democrats ran in the primary race, so Konderla is now the nominee.

Another Brazos County run knocked down a starter. Democrat Darrell Booker won the race for Justice of the Peace, Pct. 4 with 52% of the votes. He beat Celina Vasquez, who received 542 votes to 583.

But, a holder succeeded in the second round. Gabriel Garcia obtained 5,377 votes against 3,916 for Margaret Meece. Leading with 58% of the vote, Garcia will face Democratic nominee Searcy Toliver for district clerk in November.
