Dameon Pierce loses her helmet, penalized for entering the end zone

Dameon Pierce had an incredible run that signified his tenacity for the Florida Gators. Florida took a 17-point lead early in the fourth quarter on a Pierce touchdown, but it was his forward run that caught the eye. Pierce lost his helmet and continued to run into the end zone, separating three defenders.

While the touchdown did not count due to removing his helmet, Pierce was actually penalized for continuing his run without his helmet. It was a curious penalty, but Pierce wasn’t afraid without his most important piece of equipment.

The race is visible below.

Before the game, Pierce had 75 carries for 455 yards, 11 touchdowns, 6.1 yards per carry, 18 catches, 217 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns. In his career, before Saturday. Pierce had 304 carries for 1,687 yards, 21 touchdowns, 5.5 yards per carry, 44 catches, 423 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns.

Earlier this month, Pierce accepted an invitation to Reese’s Senior Bowl.

“When we run the ball I don’t feel like it fell at all,” Pierce said after the loss to Georgia three weeks ago. “When we execute correctly, we have one of the best rushed attacks in the country. It’s all about the little mistakes we make. We shoot each other in the foot and sometimes we fight. The people on the inside know it, but the people on the outside looking in, they can say anything. Ultimately it comes down to better execution on our end and just getting this racing game going. “
