Democratic State Sen. Annette Taddeo is set to officially announce his candidacy for the 2022 governor’s race on Monday at a press conference in Tallahassee.
Taddeo joins a Democratic primary field that already includes the US representative. Charlie crist, former governor and commissioner for agriculture Nikki Fried. Taddeo is reportedly the 10th Democrat to table documents in the Democratic primary, as Democrats attempt to overthrow the Republican government’s first term. Ron DeSantis.
Taddeo holds a 9:15 a.m. press conference outside the RA Gray Building, which houses the State Department, where she is expected to formalize her candidacy.
At the end of last week, Taddeo planned a potential announcement when his political committee, Fight Florida, has hired a new all-female management team. This included bringing Jackie lee as a senior advisor, Allison clark as the main campaign coordinator, and Millie Raphael and Stephanie Bromfield as senior advisers to coalitions.
“This group of talented professionals is laying the groundwork to build strong coalitions across Florida that reflect the new generation of leaders who can ensure our state continues to be one of the nation’s primary battlegrounds,” said Clark in a Friday release announcing the moves.
“The days and weeks ahead will show why we have come together at this crucial time. “
In May, Taddeo has confirmed that she is considering a possible run for governor. In the months that followed, Taddeo increasingly directed criticism towards Governor DeSantis and stepped it up fundraising operation. Its PC has also recruited additional staff in beginning of October.
Taddeo was the Democratic candidate for lieutenant governor in 2014. That year, Crist was the Democratic candidate for governor. Democrats lost by one point to the former governor. Rick scott. Taddeo’s announcement will now pit her against her former running mate.
Taddeo also organized a 2016 run for Congress. She was pursuing a general election clash with the then-US GOP representative. Carlos curbelo, but Taddeo narrowly lost in the Democratic primary at Joe garcia.
She has served in the Senate since winning a special election in 2017 for the seat of Senate District 40. In 2018, she was re-elected for her first full term.
On the Democratic side, David Freeman, Ivan graham, Jonathan karns, Amaro the Lionheart, Alexandre lundmark, Timothy Mosley and Robert willis also continue the appointment to the post of governor.
