The Alpena Trail Roamers snowmobile club donated $1,000 Thursday to Friends Together, which will be used for transportation services for cancer patients. The funds were raised at the annual Trail Runners Antique/Vintage Snowmobile Show, held in January at the Eagles Club in Alpena, featuring 90 sleds, a silent auction, raffles, trophies and Moreover. People came from other states and all over Michigan, including UP, to take part in the annual show, now in its eighth year.

The organization can certainly use the funds for transportation purposes now.

“Especially with what’s happening with our economy,” said Burns, founder and executive director of Friends Together. “For transportation, gas cards, our vans. We want to get people to seek treatment, and what we found during COVID, at the height of it, people were delaying their treatments.

She said it’s important people don’t delay their medical care because of a lack of funding for gas or housing. Friends Together can help anyone dealing with a cancer diagnosis. For more information, visit friendstogethermi.org or call 989-356-3231.
