Over the course of a century, the sands and shores of Daytona Beach, Florida have become known around the world as one of the greatest international centers of speed. From land speed record trials to beach racing, Daytona International Speedway is now a place that makes a legend for any racer who rides Victory Lane: especially in its iconic race.
Sunday marks the 64th annual Daytona 500, the first and most prestigious race in the NASCAR Cup Series. While Daytona always marks the start of a new season, the Daytona 500 itself represents a season in its own right, with the right to hoist the Harley J. Earl Trophy and be called Daytona 500 Champion while awaiting its winner.
Last year Michael McDowell’s career changed when he claimed his first Cup victory in the Daytona 500. This year he joins fellow Daytona 500 champions Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano and Kurt Busch, stars of NASCAR who have never won the Daytona 500 – like Kyle Busch, Brad Keselowski and Martin Truex Jr. – and many of the sport’s brightest stars like Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott and Ryan Blaney in pursuit of Daytona glory.
The 64th Daytona 500 race begins at 2:30 p.m. ET with TV coverage on Fox and you can stream the race on fuboTV (try for free).
